On The Regional Characteristics Of Plant Landscape In Beijing

Due to the influence of globalization, landscape assimilation has become a wide-spread problem during recent years. As a result, regional idea comes into being and devel-ops into a generally-obeyed principle for landscape design. Plant landscape is an indispen-sable part for landscape. In this sense, regional plant landscape will play a crucial part in the realization process of regional landscape.In this paper, the author first analyses the regional features of plant landscape from the aspect of theory, which are appropriateness and peculiarity, involving four levels including territory, region, city and site. The core of regional plant landscape study is to explore and set up the relationship between plant landscape and regional environment. What's more, the key to the success of regional plant landscape lies in the full respect and responses to re-gional environment, thus handling the relationship between humanity and nature, between appropriateness and peculiarity very well.Based on the theoretical study, the author analyses the composition of plants' variety and the characteristic of plant landscape in Beijing, and then discusses the formation ma-chanism of regional plant landscape in Beijing. Natural condition determines that the plant landscape in Beijing has simple structure of plant community and obvious seasonal char-acteristic; Beijing's long history and profound culture brings up multiple types of plant landscape, and gives plant landscape special quality and connotation; The plant landscape in Beijing owns grand scale and magnificent momentum because of the particular status of capital's politics and economy; Beijing's plant landscape is also influenced by human ac-tivities, meanwhile put up bright functional character by human environmental demand.In the next part of the paper, the author discusses the way of designing regional plant landscape in Beijing from four aspects of the choosing of plants, the construction of plant community, the building of plant space and the control of overall landscape. For the choosing of plants, the author considers that regional plants include adaptive plants, appli-cable plants, and characteristic plants. For the construction of plant community, the author stresses the construction of seasonal plant community on the base of summing up general characteristic of plant community in Beijing. For the building of plant space, the author stresses how to respond to the climate in Beijing and how to improve the outdoor envi-ronment greatly through regional plant landscape. While for the controlling of overall landscape, as an old city in the north, ancient culture of Beijing must be regarded, the key point is to show the particular quality which derives from thousands of years' history.At last, the author rethinks the regional plant landscape and draws a conclusion that regionalism is a space-time conception. From the aspect of space, the advances in technol-ogy make the traditional regions disappeared and mix together gradually, which leads to the landscape assimilation to a large extent. In this sense, this landscape assimilation has certain rationality, so we should further treat it more reasoningly. While from the aspect of time, regional plant landscape should adapt itself to the advances of our age. New era will bring more advanced landscape inevitably, so we should work hard to explore it constantly.
