The suspen-dome structure, as a new type of hybrid space structure which is integrated by single-layer shell and the cable-dome structure, is based on the concept of tensegrity structure. Both the benefits of the single layer shell and the cable-dome are provided. The larger coverage space and the more reasonable and economic performance is achieved. In this paper, Kiewitt (K8) suspen-dome structures were used as the examples to analyze their multi-dimensional and multi-support seismic responses by utilizing the software Midas Gen. The main contents in this paper are as follows:1. First of all, the suspen-dome structures were compared with the single-layer shell on the basis of geometric nonlinear analysis. The K8 Suspen-dome structures were analyzed to determine the shape of structure and the prestressed condition of the structure. The geometrically nonlinear analysis was carried out for different parameters on the static structural characteristics. The parameters included rod length, rise-to-span rations and prestressed value of the cables.2. Secondly, free vibration characteristics of the suspen-dome structure were analyzed considering the effect of different spans and some other different parameters. The parameters were:boundary conditions, rise-to-span rations and prestressed value of the cables.3. A large mass method equations were derived about multi-dimensional and multi-support excitations.4. The earthquake responses of suspended-dome structures were compared taking into account he ground motion effect of single-dimensional and multi-dimensional excitations.5. The seismic responses were studied to consider the single-dimensional and the three-dimensional input, the coherence input and wave passage effect was considered. The characteristics of the bars and cables were obtained about these two cases.
