Pile-soil nailing composite structure is one of the supportting systems which are used more and more in recently. Because of the supportting system can answer the questions that the general soil nailing support system can not, such as sealing problem, impervious, advance support effect, and so on, using the composite structure will get a good economic effect and widely application. But the theory about the mechanism of the composite supporting system can not meet the requirments of practice. Researchers have not got an common conclution about this composite supportting system. This paper has summarized the research results have been and then elaborated the mechanism of the pile-soil nailing composite structure separatly from cement mixing pile, soil nailing, and the effect between them. Through analysisng we recognized the importance of the cement mixing pile in the structure. In design theory, the current design method just take the pile as a safety reserve. It is so conservative that this paper presents a new calculation model named"Sharing Method of the Load"which considered the pile's effect. The"Sharing Method of the Load"assumes that the load on the structure is committed by the pile and soil nailing, and the load took by the pile is calculated by it's resistance strength, so the remaining load is took by the soil nailing. The failure modes of the pile-soil nailing composite structure are diveded into four types: the damage of the pile, internal damage, external damage and the damage of the pallet. We get checking formulas under each type of failure modes through analysis about the stability in this paper.Based on the finite element theory, the model of the pile–soil nailing composite structure has been established. The method that using the finite element software ABAQUS for calculation is discussed about the model of displacements, the situation of force and the force distribution of nail. Finally, an engineering example shows that the finite element method is a feasibe way and can provide a reference for similar projects.
