Tunnel Project is the most important work in the highway construction, and whether the construction is safe or not directly affects the safety and stability of the whole line, In the process of the survey and design in the tunnel project, the most fundamental and core issue is about the classification of the surrounding rock, which affects the design, construction, period and cost. Nowadays, more and more engineers realize that quick and accurate classification of the surrounding rock determines the safety and economy of the tunnel construction.Firstly, on the basis of the previous research, this paper does a systematical summarize on the method of surrounding rock classification, describes a few common methods, and points out the deficiencies. After the research of environmental geological conditions, combining with the previous research and the characteristics of the twenty-one tunnels in this area, it proposes the classification of the surrounding methods for every tunnel.Secondly, summarizing the previous selection for the factors on the classification of the surrounding rock, this paper proposes seven evaluation factors suited to Bai Yunshan Tunnel, which is uni-axial compressive strength of rock, impact level of geological structure, development level of joint and crevice, structural characters and integrity, indicators of the rock quality, coefficient of the rock integrity and the speed of the electric wave. It uses AHP to determine the weight of the evaluation factors.Finally, using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, this thesis makes the judgment of the thirteen surrounding rock classification of White Baiyun tunnel, and compares with site classification methods then makes the conclusion that the result comes to be identical and the former is better than the latter. The one, five, nine, thirteen segments of the surrounding rock are gradeâ…¤; two, six, twelve segments are gradeâ…£; three, four, seven, eight, ten, eleven segments are gradeâ…¢.The idea this paper proposes not only can make accurate evaluation of classification of the surrounding rock but also provides a reference for other similar types in the region and with a certain significance.
