With the increase of the traffic and axle load, traditional asphalt pavement is frequently subjected to the early disease.Extensive researches have been undertaken to solve the problem at home and abroad. Mixing fibers in the asphalt mixture is a new and effective approach attracted widespread concerns.Based on the back ground, MiberⅠhigh performance mineral composite fiber(it is called "MiberⅠfiber" for short below) was developed. This thesis conducted a systematic study on the use of the fiber in asphalt as well as in the asphalt mixtures.Rutting test, three point bending test and freeze-thaw splitting test were conducted for the investigation of high-temperature stability, low temperature crack resistance and water stability of MiberⅠhigh fiber reinforced asphalt mixture, compared with asphalt mixture without fiber, mixture with cellulous fiber and mixture with basalt fiber. The results showed that MiberⅠfiber had a good performance on improving asphalt mixture. Properties of MiberⅠfiber, the fiber asphalt mastic and the fiber reinforced asphalt mixtures were analyzed incorporated with the principles of choosing fiber in road construction. The results showed that the fiber gave good social and economic benefits. According to the test results of performance of asphalt mixture with different MiberⅠfiber dosage, the optimum dosage range of the fiber in AC-13 and SMA-13 asphalt mixture were 0.4%~0.5% and 0.5%~0.6% respectively. Grey correlation entropy method was applied to analyze the significance of the factors, which influence performance of MiberⅠfiber reinforced asphalt mixture. The result showed that optimum asphalt content and fiber content were the two most important factors.Research results of this thesis provide experimental reference for the widespread use of MiberⅠfiber, as well as the design and construction of the fiber reinforced asphalt mixture.
