The pile-supported embankment consistting of embankment fill, single or muti-layer of geosynthetic reinforcements, pile caps, pile and foundation soil, is a new type of embankment which is increasingly developed in the soft soil in recent years. At present, the pile-supported embankment already widely used at home and aborad. The interactions among embankment fill, geosynthetic reinforcements, piles and foundation siol are complex. Since the compression stiffness of pile is greater than that of the foundation soil, the embankment fill mass directly above the foundation soil has a tendency to move downward. This movement is partially restrained by shear stress from the embankment fill mass directly above the pile-cap. The shear stress increases the pressure acting on the pile-cap, but reduces the pressure on the foundation soil. This load transfer phenomena is termed as soil arching. The soil arching has a significant influence on the behavior of the piled-supported embankment. In the engineering design, degree of soil arching effect of the play is concerned. If the degree of soil arching is not sufficient, the foundation soil will shared too much embankment load. The surface of the embankment is prone to produce differential settlement which would affect the normal function of the embankment and its durability. Otherwise, the economic effect about embankment is unattainable. Consequnently, in-depth study on the development of changes in soil arching mechanism and influencing factors has important significant in theory and engineering practice. And the current formula has been ignored the role of the horizontal reinforcement to the soil arching which is formed in the pile-supported embankment. Although some formula consider the role of the reinforcement, those only analysised the force of the reinforcement, not considering its impact on the soil arching effect.Based on the above background, this paper summarizes the existing pile embankment soil arching formula. On the base of the previous studies, the author consider the role of reinforcement to the soil arching which is formed in the embankment and learn the reseach methods on the level of soil arching. Soil aching in the embankment will be seen as reasonable arch axis and the deformation of the reinforcement will be seen as a parabola. Inroducing Mohr-Coulomb strength limit equilibrium, the author analysis the role of the common between the reinforcement and the pile-supported embankment and obtained some formula under the action of the reinforcement, such as pile-soil stress ratio results obtained by the fomula which is derived by the author?...
