The Flywheel Energy Storage Technology(FEST) is a new type of energy storage technology, which has a large number of advantages such as high specific energy, specific power, small size, quick to charge and no gas waste pollution. With the rapid development of Vacuum technology, fiber composite material, magnetic bearing, development and application of FEST becomes possible and applicable, and it has a bright future.The key technology of FEST is its Supporting Technique, which can not only support the running of flywheel, making it operate stably, but also need to reduce the size of flywheel rotor, so as to reduce the power consumption caused by supporting system. This paper gives a basic research of supporting system of flywheel rotor.The paper gives an introduction of the basic principle and structure of FEST, and makes a conclusion of research home and abroad, focusing on their research findings and existing problems of FEST supporting.The paper designs a Flywheel Energy-Storage System, which contains energy-storage body, control system and vacuum installation, and the emphasis has been given to the design and analysis of supporting project. The paper works out supporting project and block bearing for Flywheel Energy-Storage System. The system the paper designed takes a radial electromagnetic bearing and an axial-radial direction magnetic bearing, with emphasis on the structure and principle of the axial-radial direction magnetic bearing. And make a calculation of magnetic circuit of magnetic bearings by taking equivalent magnetic circuit method, establish formulation and math model for axial levitation force and radial levitation force. And design method has also been given for parameter of permanent magnetic stmcture and parameter of electromagnet.Based on structure parameter, work has been done for analysis of the specification of magnetic bearing, which includes non-linear analysis of levitation force of magnetic bearing, the influence of permanent magnet on levitation force of magnetic bearing, and coupling analysis between axial and radial.Finally, comparison analysis has been done between flywheel rotor supported by whole electromagnetic bearing and flywheel rotor supported by an axial-radial direction magnetic bearing from the perspective of weight, energy storage and dynamic specification of rotor.
