The rapid development of the expressway construction brings about a series of highway management problems about pavement health maintenance. Highway maintenance is to put into operation, call for labors, material and funds so as to repair and maintenance, making the great extents of highway traffic capacity in healthy conditions. And highway health maintenance management is based on the precise, prompt and effective evaluation of the pavement. Along with the highway construction and networking, the performance of the pavement constantly put into operation may be run down for operation time, environment and driving load, thus increases the operating cost, reduces vehicle driving comfort, even influence the driving safety or generate traffic accidents. Therefore evaluating the performance of pavement timely and effectively can not only improve motorway service life, but also can avoid unnecessary traffic accidents and additional loss, and also improve the profits of management enterprise.This paper used rough set theory and general regression neural network (GRNN algorithm based on the MATLAB, established the model of highway pavement performance evaluation system, and realized the applications of pavement performance evaluation based on rough set and generalized regression neural network.This article studied the performance evaluation of highway pavement from the following aspects.(1) Studied applications of the rough set theory in data processing of highway roads. The study was based on the complexity, high dimension, irregularity of pavement data, and put forward to reduct indexes which affected pavement performance at first by using rough set, extracted attributes which plays a fundamental impact on pavement usability, aided and played the based role for the follow-up evaluation index, the neural network training, evaluation and analysis.(2) Researched the pavement performance evaluation in highway pavement health maintenance management mechanism, according to the characteristics of different degrees of variability factors as location of the road, load bearing, material performance and maintenance level. Proposed based on rough set theory combining with generalized regression neural network of pavement performance evaluation model and framework.(3) By analyzing the key point of the maintenance management in the process of developing highway pavement health maintenance management information system, and from the overall situation according to actual condition, the concept of modular design should be adopted. From the aspects of management information system of general structure and system structure, analyzed the structure of the pavement performance evaluation function and working process, analyzed the requirements for subsequent design modeling and established basic framework.Finally, to summarize the whole research work, analyzed the problems of the model, and prospect the follow-up research.
