Along with the continuous development of marine engineering, marine offshore working vessels and some other requirements of the ship need to improve handling performance immediately. Flap rudder as a reliable, high lift rudder in recent years has aroused the attention of the design workers. Therefore, the design of the rudder flap has become increasingly important.So far, domestic and foreign experiment study of the flaps rudder is less, yet there is less complete test data and design diagram used for design calculations. When the designers select the rudder-type hydrodynamic coefficients, they often estimate the results according to the empirical formula or manually take data from the known diagrams. So the hydrodynamic coefficients obtained often have a greater error. In addition, because of the design process of flaps rudder big workload, calculation process is complicated and slower, and once the design is completed and the need to change can only restart and inefficient, the designer takes a lot of time. The designer can not simultaneously compare multiple design schemes, and can not get the optimal design.In view of the above questions, this article selects numerical simulation method and use computational fluid dynamics software Fluent to analysis hydrodynamic performance of simulation of flap rudder, and develops the flap rudder design software. Thesis mainly completes the following areas:(1) The flap rudder hydrodynamic performance simulation calculation is completed respectively in open water conditions and after propeller conditions. By analyzing hydrodynamic performance of the flap rudder at different angle of attack water, we can know the velocity distribution around the flap rudder, rudder surface pressure distribution and the changes in streamline; By monitoring the forces of the flap rudder in the flow field, we can get the flap rudder hydrodynamic coefficient curve, which is useful for the flap rudder design calculations to obtain the key parameters;(2) Through the study of the basic features of propeller wake field and the flaps rudder influence factor, providing theoretical basis for the hydrodynamic performance simulation of the flaps rudder afer the propeller; (3) Through the simulation of dynamic performance of the flaps rudder after the propeller, we can know the velocity distribution around the flap rudder, rudder surface pressure distribution and the changes in the propeller streamline; By comparison with the actual test data, we can know the influence of hydrodynamic performance when the flap rudder locate in the propeller slipstream;(4) This paper adopts Visual Basic.net as a software development tools, effective integrate Access database, and according to the programming language open up AutoCAD and Office software for secondary development, complete the special design software for flap rudder design, achieve the flap rudder design intelligent. It accelerates the progress of the calculation in design, improves the design efficiency, and has high practical value.
