The project interconnecting Hainan power network with Guangdong power grid is the first long distance sea-crossing 500KV high capacity submarine cable transmission system in China and is also the similar project subsequent to the sea-crossing project interconnecting Canadian mainland power grid with Vancouver Island power network in the world. Because of the charging power of AC submarine cable far greater than charging power of overhead lines so that over-voltage is very large when the system is under the conditions of light load, hence, it is an important factor to the security and stable running of transmission lines and it links AC system. Moreover, the secondary arc current of long distance submarine cable lines is large which may lead to reduce the success rate of the single-phase automatic reclosing and also endanger the safe running of transmission lines. Thus, research on the over-voltage of Hainan power network and the measure of suppressing over-voltage---reactive compensation and secondary arc current and it's the suppressed measures has an important theoretical significance and practical value. According to the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation model of Hainan power network, the paper analyzes the over-voltage of Hainan network which at four compensatory manners and different compensation ratios. At the same time, the paper also calculates and researches that the inductance on neutral of shunt reactors suppress secondary arc current.
