This paper presents short-circuit current calculation and equipment calibration technology which can be used in power plants, and the software for short-circuit current calculation and equipment calibration has been developed combined with the actual needs of the project. To ensure the safe operation of power plants, the dynamic calibration for switchgears based on their actual operating state has been applied.Firstly, the sequence components models of elements in power system have been discussed in detail in the symmetrical component coordinate. Secondly, the methods to build and modify the bus admittance matrix as well as Z-matrix have been highlighted, and the method of short-circuit calculation has been carefully analyzed, also the software of short-circuit current calculation and equipment calibration according to the actual engineering has been designed finally. In this software, the functions of calculating for periodic components of short-circuit current at random time has been completed by direct calculation, and drawing short-circuit current waveform as well as generator operational curve have been realized. In addition, the software has realized the function of calibration which includes the dynamic stability and thermal stability for switchgears such as breakers, isolator and so on. And the results have been outputted to Crystal Reports. Finally, the overall design and implementation methods of this software have been described briefly.Based on the platform of.NET Framework, both advanced programming languages of C++and C# have been comprehensively used as development tools, and the software which has functions of drawing electrical main wiring diagram and calculating periodic components of short-circuit current at random time and equipment calibration has been developed by the use of object-oriented technology, ADO.NET database access technology, GDI+ graphics, dynamic link libraries and other technologies such as Crystal Reports. Moreover, through the real case, it is verified that this software is surefire.
