The design of a wind turbine blade needs to consider multidisciplinary problems, including aerodynamics, structural dynamics, mechanics of materials, etc. Airfoil is the basic elements in constituting the geometry appearance of a wind turbine blade, so the performance of the airfoil directly determines the performance of the wind turbines. Traditional airfoils for aircraft have been widely used in wind turbine.However,these kinds of airfoils often suffer from roughness induced by leading edge contamination. As a result,when the blade surface became rough becasuse of the dust or grease dirt, the lift coefficients and lift-to-drag ratio will be weakend significantly.In addition, due to the increasing trend of wind turbine blades, The airfoil's operation Re range changes from 105 to 107, grasping the different Re numbers' influence law on the aerodynamic characteristics of airfoil is necessary to both the wind turbine blade design and the machine load calculation. Therefore, the research on the influence of the surface roughness and Reynolds number to the airfoils' aerodynamic performance has become the most essential problem.The research is a part of the national 863 Project entitled "Design and Apply on Advanced Wind Turbine Dedicated Airfoil Families ".The following content are mainly present in this dissertation:(1)Study on the common airfoils which had been published was carried out,and the influence of the geomeritic on the aerodynamic performance was summsrized.(2)CFD and XFOIL was introduiced and verified in this article, and the result calculated by the two methods was compared with the experiment date.(3)The Aerodynamic Performance of the Airfoil Include with Roughness on surface was studied with NUMECA,by using the k-e turbulence model with external function.(4)The influence of Reyold number on the aerodynamic performance was studied through the combination of experiment date and CFD result.It provides the basis for the design of airfoils.
