With its simple structure and convenient construction, simply-supported reinforced concrete bridge(SRCB) is widely used, especially as the small and medium-sized span highway or bridge. As some damage gradually occurs and the loading capacity drops through time of service, researches on the bridge detection technology is necessary for the sake of safety. To obtain some methods and experience for the test and evaluation of SRCB, this paper detects the loading capacity and other functions of the First Bridge in Bihu, including the following aspects of work:1. According to the related standards and the inspection of the exterior status, the overall situation of the bridge is evaluated, the result of which shows that Bihuyiqiao is in POOL situation and needs timely maintenance and traffic control. Besides some specific methods for maintenance is put forward, which should be focused on bridge deck pavement, bridge drainage system and horizontal clapboard, bearing, girders, pier foundation concrete surface etc.2. To explore the static load and the related test techniques, an theoretical mode analysis is made by establishing the dimensional dynamic infinite element model of the First Bridge in Bihu with MIDAS software. According to the results of comparison between the actual value and the theoretical value of the controlling section, the actual loading capacity of the bridge is calculated and confirmed.3. To further explore the dynamic properties and the techniques of dynamic load test, the natural frequency and vibration mode of the First Bridge in Bihu are tested. This paper compare the test results of impact coefficient and the acceleration with that in theory and brings forward beneficial advices for the road management, maintenance, reconstruction and reinforcement.4. Through the theoretical mode analysis made by establishing the dimensional dynamic infinite element model of the First Bridge in Bihu with MIDAS software, natural vibration frequency of the First Bridge in Bihu theoretically are obtained. The comparison among actual results and the theoretical results suggests that its current loading capacity meets that desired.
