Wind energy, as a non-polluting and renewable energy resource, has been paid more and more attention by people nowadays. The research of wind power generation becomes the research hotspot all over the world. In order to study wind power generation technology in laboratory without wind environment, this thesis designs a set of wind turbine (WT) simulation system and builds an experiment platform. In this platform, brushless DC motor (BLDC) has been chosen for simulating as the WT. And the characteristics of WT have been simulated by controlling the torque of BLDC.Firstly, a comprehensive summary of current situation of domestic and foreign WT simulation is given in this thesis. The simulation algorithm of the WT using BLDC which based on torque control is worked out by contrasting various algorithms of WT simulation.Then, this thesis introduces the principle of WT simulation, and deduces the mathematical models of wind speed, WT and BLDC. In order to accurately reflect the actual characteristics of WT, the impact of the tower shadow and wind shear have been calculated in the simulator. Furthermore, the torque compensation is added to eliminate the differences of dynamic response caused by different inertias between the simulation motor and the actual WT. On this basis, the simulation models of WT simulator are built up in Matlab, and the simulation result is carried out comprehensively.A WT simulation system based on DSP, CPLD and RT-LAB has been introduced in the last chapter which contains the design of hardware and software. The experiment results verify the validity and the feasibility of the proposed WT simulator.
