The piston skirt surface design is a particularly important part of the pis-ton design in modern high-speed and advance-performance engines.It directly impacts on the formation and maintenance of oil film,as well as the piston fric-tion.And thus,it could determine the efficiency and lifetime of the engines.In this essay,the tangential movement of piston was first analysized from the perspective of tribology, And Reynolds equation describing the piston movement was given.Secondly,the sencond-order equation of the piston transverse movement was concluded through the analysis on the lateral force which is exerted on the piston.And then,the mathematical model of piston movement inside the cylinder was established.Then by respectively calculating in the method of Galerkin finite element and Runge-Kutta,a series of data showing the influence on the oil film thickness,piston friction and the extent of piston lateral swing,which will be the basis to optimize the skirt surface design,were got.Numerical experiments show good results and verify the correctness of the algorithm mentioned above.
