Impacted by the modern entertainment, Peking Opera, which is a traditional and all-know entertainment style, became too highbrow to be popular. But in the same time, as an non-material cultural heritage and the most highly influenced sorts of dramatic, the box office appeal warming up. Peking Opera Theater buildings need us a new vision to its construction and development demand as the carrier of the Peking Opera. As the concept of"Intangible Cultural Heritage"is gradually acquainted by the whole society, the market of Peking Opera performance also scaled up to meet the demands.When we run back over the whole development course of"Local Opera Theater", it was not derived from Chinese traditional theater, which is more suitable for Peking Opera, but replaced by Western-style Theater. However, due to the features of foreign Opera differs widely, the quintessence of China can't adept to Western-style theater. How to solve the adaption problem of Peking Oprea and the Local Opera Theater will be the first assignment to the construction of Peking Opera Theater. That's why we focus on the design strategy.In the first chapter, the author launches the general introductions of the characteristics, values, current situations and development of Peking Opera, analyze on the demands of Peking Opera Theater and analyse several examples related with Peking Opera Theater Buildings to point up the impotents of the theater.The second chapter will be digging up the characteristics form the background of culture and development track of Peking Opera Theater Building. Give some cases and analyze those building to summarize the features of locations, scale, Performance Spaces Design, stage, acoustics design form different period.Then on the base of documentary research plus contrast study methods, the author summarize the distinguishing features from several aspects of Peking Opera Theater Buildings between the traditional and modern one. Then analyze from government politic strategy, requirement of the current of time and local economic demands to summarize the elements which impact the development of Peking Opera Theater Buildings.The major point of the next chapter is to solve the problems above. The author proposes five designing principles of modern opera theaters and analyzes on the locations, scale, Performance Spaces Design, stage, acoustics design and operation mode, analysis and adapt the construction of the contemporary opera theater's adaptive design strategy.In the last chapter, through the case study of the contemporary Peking Opera theater building plus with theories, reappear the idea of the designing principles and the viewpoints of author.
