With rapid development of Chinese construction and improvement of living standard, long-span structures have been applied to public buildings widely, such as stadiums, convention center, multiple-function hall and so on. Undoubtedly, building technology of long-span structures has been a significantly important symbol for a country. Usually, this kind of structures with a large span causes complex force status in structural member, as well as a variety of problems found in practice. So far many deep studies have been done for long-span structures world widely. In this paper, behavior of a long-span structure which is Qishi Museum of Liuzhou, and located in Guangxi province of P.R. China was analyzed in order to provide some instructions for the design of this kind of structure in the future.Firstly, static behavior and stability of the steel roof in this structure was analyzed. Static behavior of the steel roof was studied against FEA results including structural displacement, supporting reaction, member stress etc…, while linear buckling analysis and nonlinear buckling analysis considering effect of both initial imperfection and geometrical non-linearity were carried out to study stability of this steel roof. Temperature influence was also under consideration in the static analysis. Both static analysis and stability analysis were performed on the steel roof with or without cable-supported part under the same loading condition. Thus, characteristics and advantages of the steel roof with cable-supported part could be summarized obviously.Secondly, beam element and link element were used in FEA to simulate the connection between the steel roof and the lower concrete structure separately. Differences of their FEA results including static analysis, stability analysis and earthquake-resistance analysis were studied and the collaborative work way between the steel roof and the lower concrete structure was analyzed. Finally, structural behaviors of the steel roof and the whole structure which means the steel roof with lower concrete structure were compared so as to explain these differences existing in FEA results of two types of structures, such as natural vibration model, displacement, reaction, stress, seismic resistance etc…...
