As a lightweight structure, the radial gate is widely applied to water conservancy projects because of its merits such as, low lifting force , easy opening and closing, and convenient operation etc. But, at the same time, because the radial gate is a thin-walled structure, the flow-induced vibrations are possible, which even leads to the negative consequences of the safety and stable operation of the gate, and the threat to safety operation of the hydraulic engineering. Therefore, we should strengthen the study of the flow-induced vibration characteristics of radial gate. And it is still important. The methods used to study the flow-induced vibration of the radial gate are prototype observation, hydro-elastic model experiment and the Finite Element Software ANSYS. Previous studies on the radial gate was only about isolated gate, however, it ignores interaction among gate, pier, and the spillway, and ignores the interaction between the gate and the adjacent gate when porous gate operating.Therefore, in this paper, taking the Guangdong Lechang Hydraulic Project as an example, using hydro-elastic model experiment and Finite Element Software to research the characteristics of the flow-induced vibration coupling the spillway radial gate and gate pier and coupling the adjacent gates and piers. And the main studies are as follows:(1) A hydro-elastic model of Lechangxia was developed on basis of its simulation theory and testing requirement. And the dynamic loads characteristics and results of flow-induced vibration were analyzed.(2) A three-dimensional finite element model for the radial gate and at the same time another three-dimensional finite element model for the system of spillway, radial gate and the gate pier were established using the finite element software, according to the size of the radial gate. Then the natural vibration frequency was calculated, and the effect of the fluid-structure coupling on its natural vibration property was also analyzed. And the result of the numerical calculation about the radial gate was contrasted with the system of spillway, radial gate and the gate pier. and the finite element calculation results was confirmed by the results of hydro-elastic model test.(3) The characteristics of the flow-induced vibration and the interaction of the gates and piers were studied using the numerical calculation when porous gate operating. (4) Using the method of numerical calculation, we studied the vibration characteristics of the radial gate under the conditions of fluid-structure coupling and different panel thickness and different types of gate arm. Furthermore we studied the factors of the gate's static stability and dynamic Stability.
