The dynamic optimum design of structure is one of the advancing subjects in the engineering structure design field. A lot of work has been done on finite element of cabin, optimum design of middle ship section, optimum design of cabin, response optimization, and etc. But further study was performed little, especially on the dynamic characteristic optimum design of whole-ship structure. So the following works were done by a cutter suction dredger in this thesis.(1) The sensitivity analysis of whole-ship structure was done with the parameters including the thickness of plate and the dimension of stiffener.(2) Study of dynamic characteristic optimum design on whole-ship structure was done in order to find the reasonable structural type and size of whole-ship structure and obtain better dynamic characteristics under the condition that whole-ship structures meet the conditions of static criterion.(3) A whole-ship structural dynamic characteristic hierarchical optimum method was adopted, which was based on the thought of cabin design and the characteristic of dynamic optimization problem. Stiffness distribution and structural dynamic characteristic optimization were united in a reasonable way, and then the large and complex structural dynamic characteristic optimum design was realized.(4) In actual situation, it often can not meet the requirements only considering the single objective (mass lightest). So, two objectives, mass lightest and natural frequency smallest, were taken into account with the structure satisfying various constraint conditions in this thesis.
