Distribution network connect the power generation and transmission systems to the power users, it's the last teaches of power transmission, whose automation degree direct affect the power quality of the user. To realize distribution automation, it's key to achieve feeder automation. According to communications network, there are two feeder automation schemes; there are feeder automation base on FTU and feeder automation base on recloser and sectionalizer. However, both of these two schemes have their inadequate, that is not so economy or not accurate enough to deal with failure, other words, they can't achieve both the economy and the performance.To solve these problems, this paper presents a feeder automation scheme base on wireless sensor network. This scheme combines wireless sensor networks with recloser and sectionalizer. Sensor nodes will collect fault information, do the preliminary judging, and then send these fault information of switches to the decision-making system. According to the protection scheme, which was set before, the decision-making system will trip off recloser to cut the fault current, and then, sectionalizer will isolate the fault area, so the non-fault areas will resume the power supply. This scheme has the virtue of the two feeder automation mentioned above, it will notice the fault area quickly, and because of the low cost of sensor node, it can be used widely.In order to further the wireless sensor network, this paper build a small ireless sensor network with communications nodes,A / D modules,gateway modules and personal computer, which was made by crossbow company. Communications nodes can get current signal by A / D modules, this can simulate the acquisition process of the node, and then the date will get to gateway modules by the self-organization network, finally, it will arrive the personal computer. Users can see the network topology of notes,date transmission,battery case of the node and the like. It can be found in this Experimental platform, the wireless sensor networks work stable, can do the self-organizing quickly, the data transmission credible, it is capable of data transmission of this scheme.This paper also analyzed the date transmission in large-scale network by NS simulation software, which was widely accepted. The simulation results show that the packet loss rate was low and the data delay can also be accepted in the network, using the mature protocol currently.
