Flood season limited water level is the bonding point of reservoir's flood control benefits and beneficial use. Traditional setting of flood season limited water level considered preventing flood of small probability too much, therefore restricted the beneficial use of reservoir. Along with the development of science and technology, and the nation's strong advocating for developing efficient green energy, traditional flood season limited water level is less able to adapt the current situation, it is very necessary to launch research of optimizing flood season limited water level.The aim of optimizing reservoir's flood season limited water level is for optimizing reservoir's flood control capacity, the setting of flood control capacity doesn't consider the situation of linked-reservoir's joint-operation, actually the flood control capacity of linked-reservoirs can be compensated when they are joint-operating, at this time the important task of flood controlling is undertook by total flood control capacity of linked-reservoirs, it is safe compared with single reservoir's operation. The total flood control capacity can be reduced, the flood season limited water level can be optimized when the redundant flood control capacity is distributed.Considering the safety of flood controlling, make the total flood control capacity of the early period of flood season unchanged , the total flood control capacity of the late period of flood season reduced gradually ,the optimal distribution for flood control capacity in each reservoir is a complicate problem, GA has advantage in solving these problems. The long-term optimal operation model is built, considering the compensation of flood control capacity, using the improved genetic algorithm to determine each reservoir's flood season limited water level, and the result is satisfied.The main content includes:1. Analyzing the short of traditional flood season limited water level's setting, illustrating the total flood control capacity can be reduced when linked-reservoirs are joint-operating.2. Building the reservoirs'long-term optimal operation model, using GA to calculate the constraint of flood season limited water level, flood control capacity is optimized from the view of maximum electric capacity.3. Doing a calculation for six reservoirs on Jinsha river, analyzing the result, proving the feasibility of the method.
