The Three Gorges Project of Yangtze River is one of the most remarkable and massive water conservancy projects around the world. While we are enjoying the enormous economic and social benefits from it, it also brings us the problems of ecological security. The reservoir's water environment security has become a hotspot both at home and abroad, with its self-purification capacity of the hydrostatic lower body decreasing, which results to the deteriorating water environment.With the advantages of low cost, high precision monitoring, great fault tolerance, remote controlled, easy diagnosis and maintenance, wireless sensor networks has show its great application prospects in military, environmental protection, project monitoring, and medical & health, etc. Currently, its application in environmental monitoring has become a leading subject.The existing water environmental monitoring methods in Three Gorges Reservoir Area were deeply studied firstly in the dissertation. Then, a monitoring way based on wireless sensor network was proposed, combining GPRS and the internet, according to the real spacious and widespread conditions in Three Gorges reservoir area. And the network construction method of ultra-large-scale wireless sensor network for water environment monitoring was also discussed there, with the focus on monitoring network's information fusion algorithm. The water environment monitoring status in Three Gorges Reservoir is expected to completely be changed with the scientific basis provided by the research result in this dissertation, not also in monitoring comprehensiveness, but also in its accuracy and reliability. It has important theoretical and practical significance for the improvement of our environmental monitoring levels.The main work is as follows:â‘ Water environment monitoring network construction in Three Gorges reservoir The monitoring network in Three Gorges reservoir is an ultra-large scale wireless sensor networks, which makes the traditional small-scale network architecture can't meet its business network construction requirement. And it is necessary to deploy the distributed architecture of the network. Therefore, a networking strategy suitable for water environment monitoring network in the Three Gorges Reservoir is proposed, namely, one network containing multi-PAN and one PAN containing multi-clusters.â‘¡Information fusion of water environment monitoring in three Gorges reservoir Water environment monitoring network in Three Gorges Reservoir is achieved by collecting a large number of water quality information from sensor nodes. The network would be bound to jammed, if the data in each node is sent to the monitoring center and some other issues would also be caused, meanwhile, it takes much power to send these data, which is against the limited energy character in wireless sensor networks. So, there is no necessary and unrealistic to send the whole information without process. Redundant information can be removed to save power, as long as integrating the node's local computing power and storage capacity to process the data firstly. What's more, the accuracy of the information and the efficiency of data collection can also be further improved, if making fully use of information fusion technology. In this article, in order to reduce energy consumption and improve the accuracy of information purposes, information integration is achieved by different kind of algorithms from the aspect of alarm monitoring and data sample.â‘¢Prototype system design of water environment monitoring in Three Gorges reservoirA water environment monitoring system model in Three Gorges Reservoir Area based on wireless sensor networks was proposed after the above researches, and was also implemented with the existing conditions and equipments in laboratory.Finally, a summary of the research work was made out and future research was discussed following.
