Research Of PDM In Ship Design Based On Windchill

The implementation of PDM in ship design process is an irresistible development trend of shipping manufacturing industry. It is also the path for shipbuilding industry of our county to transform the pattern of development from enlarging scale to enhancing strength. The Windchill system is one of the most extensive application and most advanced PDM system at present. The thesis is discussing the development and implementation of product data management during ship design process based on Windchill.Documents of different types and uses need to experience different approval process. To solve this problem, an electronic approval process with"all in one"function characteristic is developed in this thesis. The development of this process takes the customization of approval workflow as a key, and set the"design-check-audit-inspect-approval-countersign"as the complete framework of approval process. Combined with code, the condition router can skip some stages in this framework of approval process according to our needs. The different stages it skips, and the different approval process it execute. This process reduces the classification of documents, and facilitates the submission of documents.In addition, design institutes and shipyards, as firms of ship design and manufacture, always receive a large number of technical design results from cooperation or upstream sectors. And design institutes and shipyards its selves also produce a large number of design documents. These documents are needed to submit to Windchill system. But methods provided by Windchill itself are weak in uploading large number of documents. To solve this problem, a method of batch importing is developed based on Windchill in this thesis. First, a new action is added to drop-down list in Windchill user interface. Then, a JSP page is linked to the action to upload technical documents by using Excel table forms. Finally, the Java code is added to the Windchill system to handle with the process of uploading. By using this method of batch import, it can save a lot of time and effort. And it is easy to exam and not easy to make mistakes. This development method can be a reference to customize other functions of Windchill system.
