Landscape Design Of River Wetland Based On The Water Purification

The paper tried to design a river wetland system with a strong ability of water purification taking the role played by wetland plants in water purification as the starting point. At the same times, it seek to meet the needs for recreation in urban river green spaces from citizens.First, the paper interpreted, identified and classified the vegetation types, plant species and their habitat along Huludao Moon River with aerial photo interpretation combined with field mapping method, selecting plants and habitat should be retained. Secondly, through literature review, the paper selected 12 species of wetland plants by relative quantification judgment on the ability of sewage purification among suitable plants in Huludao area. Six plant groups have been designed by compositing comprehensive and high efficiency requirements of water purification, hydrophilic of plants and aesthetics requirements. At the basis of above, combined with existing topography, vegetation distribution and water line, it designed on the Moon River channel and optimization. The growth room for plants grow has been arranged to create a space in purifying mid-water. According to the existing vegetation and its environment in the river, the paper did maintenance planting design for the river valley to create a river wetland system with continuous update function. Finally, integrated 4 urban wetlands landscape design requirements of protection, rational use, coordinate construction, a reasonable partition and 6 river landscape design requirements of safety, hydrophilic, nature, ecology, ornamental and culture, the paper did landscape design for Moon River.To create a "blend of humanity and nature - a harmonious home" for the design, the program used of 4 different level ways which were retaining the original habitat, maintaining the original atmosphere, maintenance and updating design to deal with different areas. Design attractions included two types which were functional nodes and natural attractions. The former took artificial landscape for environmental construction and watching subjects, including the net drainage, Ying-tai pool, wetlands exhibition center, bird-watching spots, Yang Lin teahouses and water squares. The latter took natural landscape for environmental construction and watching subjects, including wet meadows, tree islands, camping, Pennisetum lawn, the decorated flower lawn, lake and waterfall etc.Finally, the paper did comparative assessment between design program and present situation of Moon River wetland, which found that the area of water, wetland vegetation and forest land increased substantially. Moon River wetland will play an effective role in the ecological benefits as an Urban Wetland Park.
