Performance-Based Seismic Design required accurate prediction for structural nonlinear behaviors under strong earthquakes by Pushover analysis method and IDA method currently. The IDA method is not practical for everyday design use. An existing universally applicable method of Pushover has not been found for the lack of solid theoretical foundation. So, establish a widely applicable method to various structures for performance-based analysis is very important and practical. An improved mode for dynamic analysis is proposed based on OpenSEES in this paper for the further research. For the above, this research includes three parts:(1) The running mechanism among each module of the resource codes of OpenSEES and the executable codes for Pushover Analysis and Dynamic Analysis are provided in the first part of this paper, and we analyze the limit and shortage of Pushover analysis and IDA based on OpenSEES, and also proposed some preliminary suggestions of conventional Pushover.(2) Introduced the concept of an excitation which related with the vibration period of the structure, a new method is proposed to acquire the capacity curve and the relationship of maximum underlying level displacement and maximum toplevel displacement of the structure.(3) Based on the results of IDA, the features of free vibration analysis method and MPA methods are compared in this research. Research shows that the free virbration analysis is more stable and accurate than MPA, and less computation than IDA.(4) Acquired the optimal incentive mode through a comparison of the free vibration analysis results under different incentive mode. Research shows that the impact of different pattern is not distinct, and the attenuation sine excitation mode is the optimal one. Local deviation is relatively obvious of capacity curve of structure under the attenuation cosine incentive mode because of the influence of high frequency component.
