Study On The Stability Of Battered Piles With Different Angles Under Vertical Load

In this thesis, we study on the stability of battered piles through both theexperiment and simulation analysis. We can get the Curves of settlement betweenLoad with the experiment. And we can check the test results by ANSYS analysissoftware.Through the way described above, we get some conclusion like these:(1)The curves of different battered piles with different angles have littledifference. This situation especially happened when the pile has a small angle.(2) The bending moment of sloping piles changes with the angle's changes of thepile, the influence of directly gradient .The angle is bigger, the pile body was higher,and the bending moment is smaller. So if the pile has a large enough stiffness, usingan oblique pile to instead a vertical pile could gets better effect.(3)Whatever it is vertical pile or battered pile, its pile load-settlement curve hasthe characteristics of slowly changing. Battered pile with a small angle has ans-shaped curve. With Angle's changing, the phenomenon of second inflection point isobvious going down. Large pile top settlement even without turning point. Thebending moment of sloping piles changes with the angle's changes of the pile, theinfluence of directly gradient .The angle is bigger, the pile body was higher, and thebending moment is smaller. So if the pile has a large enough stiffness, using anbattered pile to instead a vertical pile could gets better effect.(4)Battered pile with vertical load will have flexure, so the pile will be separatefrom soil, and lower side will cause the soil bate. It will also make pile side frictionevenly distributed. So the angle decides the size of side friction.
