Bearing Behavior And Application Research Of Ram-compacted Piles With Bearing Base

Ram-compacted piles with bearing base and its composite foundation are the relatively new geotechnical engineering techniques, and as a pile foundation or a foundation treatment method, it has been widely used in engineering of building, highway, and railway. But many problems, such as bearing mechanisms and working behaviors, design and construction, are to be studied and resolved.Combining the related research achievements, on the base of analyzing the results of field tests about ram-compacted piles with bearing base, the following aspects are studied and discussed: compared the vertical bearing capacity between ram-compacted piles with bearing base and common cast-in place concrete piles, showing the former is about 2 times the latter; studied the load transfer characteristics of ram-compacted piles with bearing base under the of vertical load action, given the suggestion on considering the bearing effects of shaft resistances; studied the load transfer behavior and negative friction of piles , stress ratio between pile to soil in composite foundation of ram-compacted piles with bearing base, indicating that ram-compacted piles with bearing base has a bigger negative friction forces and compared with other common composite foundations, the neutral point is lower and the stress ratio between pile to soil in ram-compacted piles with bearing base bigger; under the action of embankment loading, the composite foundation of ram-compacted piles with bearing base can reduce the settlements significantly and showing better settlements characteristics.Finally, by analyzing the real engineering of in Luoyang, it is obtained that the ram-compacted piles with bearing base is suitable for the local geo-engineering conditions and has better bearing capacity , but in past engineering design, owing to the conservatives, the potential bearing capacity of ram-compacted piles with bearing base is not be made full use of.
