Power Distribution systems are at the end of the whole power system, the network structure is extremely complex, relative to the power transmission network, the higher the probability of failure. Distribution network is shouldered with the responsibility of directly supply electricity to power users, the practical operation level of the power distribution system is directly proportional to the power supply quality which users enjoy. Therefore, how to achieve fast fault isolation and self-healing in the distribution network is becoming a tough task which electric power industry was faced, is also the difficulties of achieve intelligent distribution network we must conquer. The research emphasis of this paper is based on wide-area information to realize distributed intelligent control of distribution network fault isolation and rapid self-healing. At the same time solve some problem may cause the failure of fault isolation and self-healing.In this paper, the existing distribution feeder fault isolation and self-healing methods were summarized, namely:the reclosing mode, distributed intelligent control mode, centralized control mode, network protection mode. Briefly list the fault isolation time and power recovery time of four distribution network feeder fault isolation and self-healing technology. And its working principle, advantages and disadvantages and adaptability were described in detail.Topology analysis was carried out on the distribution network feeder is the basis of distribution network power flow calculation, fault location, fault isolation and power restoration, network reconfiguration, etc. In this paper, based on in-depth study of many literatures, based on the switch state information, put forward a kind of interconnection switch topology identification method based on adjacency STU relay switch state information, the interconnection switch topology of distribution network can be implemented quickly identify, not need through the main station get the complex global network topology information, implementation is easy, the efficiency of topology identification is very high, when the network structure change, can automatically update the topology information quickly. This article through analyzed the characteristics of EPON networking technology and the feasibility of EPON application in distribution network fault self-healing system, according to different forms of distribution network wiring proposed flexible networking and application solutions. In view of the future demand for the development of the intelligent power distribution network, the distribution network fault self-healing technology has carried on the mathematical modeling research. Combined with the current problems existing in the distribution network protection and control technology, based on the intelligent distribution network wide-area measurement and control system to realize integrated control of fault location, fault isolation and supply restoration. When fault occurs, through the exchange of two adjacent STU fault current information to do fault location and fault isolation, when fault isolation is completed, the control decision STU send a switch closure command to the STU which placed in the contact switch to achieve fault self-healing, this method has been successful application in the actual distribution network.A large number of distribution transformer accessed to the distribution network, when the transformer no-load closing or power supply restored after removal of the fault, no-load transformer closing with iron core saturation will produce a lot of exciting current (called magnetizing inrush current), the current through line protection is likely to exceed the line protect Reference to previous research to simulation the character of excitation inrush current, Reference to previous research, through the way of second harmonic discriminate fault current and excitation inrush current, ensure when excitation inrush current through the line, STU automatic locking protection. The fault isolation and fault self-healing technology based on wide-area information which described in this article has applied in distribution network feeder protection demonstration project of XXX power supply bureau, verify the validity of this method, and made a detailed instruction for the demonstration project.
