This paper analyzed the development of the pneumatic weapons and liquid nitrogen powerplants at home and abroad in recent years. On this basis, the idea that liquid nitrogen as power applied in weapon shooting system was put forward. Then the feasibility of the application was analyzed.Firstly, the feasibility of using liquid nitrogen as power in the aspects of energy storage density and the physical characteristics were analyzed. Then, according to the characteristics of the liquid nitrogen as power, the working principle of weapons was determined and a design scheme of pneumatic shooting device using liquid nitrogen as the driving force was put forward. The gasification process of liquid nitrogen was achieved by using liquid nitrogen tank and heat exchanger. The working process of system was controlled by pressure relays and control valves in the circuit. The shoot mechanism consists of a gas pressurization structure, barrel, fitting and locking mechanism. And the corresponding parts was designed. The seal design on some position was described. Finally, interior ballistic analysis model of weapon shoot process was established. The interior ballistic equations were calculated by MATLAB software. The bore pressure and muzzle velocity were got when the projectile parameters changes, such as initial pressure of gas source, barrel caliber, barrel length, projectile quality, piston quality, cross-sectional area ratio of the back air chamber and the front air chamber, volume of air chamber, the released pressure of projectile. And the influence of various factors on shooting performance was analyzed in detail. The research results shown that the liquid nitrogen as power applied in weapon shoot system was feasible.
