Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE) is a new propulsion system by using pulse detonation to produce periodic thrust of wave. Compared with the traditional turbine engine, the PDE has many advantages, such as simple structure, high thermal efficiency, the advantages of high specific impulse, wide applicable scope. It makes the PDE widely focused in many countries.This paper first analyzes the status quo at home and abroad of the PDE, both expounded the PDE flow field of different type nozzle and noise radiation characteristics in experiment and numerical simulation. This article studies in two aspects of the numerical calculation to the flow field of PDE and noise radiation characteristics. Main contents are as follows:(1) Based on interior ballistic theory and computational fluid dynamics, the flow field of pulse detonation engine is simplified. The mathematical models of the one-dimensional internal flow field and axis-symmetric external flow field are established. Two kinds of CE/SE method calculation formats are induced and the corresponding numerical calculation program is made. The numerical calculations of pulse detonation engine internal flow field and external flow field are implemented. Through the establishment of different observation points on the near field of the PDE, the detonation noise is analyzed;(2) In chapter two, the mathematical models of the two-dimensional internal flow field and axis-symmetric external flow field are established. Through the calculation program, the change of the PDE flow field is simulated and the near field of detonation noise directivity characteristics have been attained;(3) The mathematical models of pulse detonation engine with converging nozzle, straight nozzle and converging-diverging nozzle are established. The CE/SE method is induced to simulate each of the nozzles inside and outside PDE, and the corresponding numerical calculation programs are made.The impact of near-field detonation noise of PDE with different type nozzle is implemented. The preliminary results of the nozzles in the near field of detonation noise impact are obtained.
