Be based on the design of the monomer Li-ion power battery, the conventional laminated of Li-ion power battery on the market was optimized, a new design of laminated battery was designed. Through the theoretical calculation and simulation, two kinds of design advantages and disadvantages were compared.20Ah battery of the conventional laminated design and20Ah battery of the new laminated design are made. Their electrochemical performance, safe performance, temperature field distribution and temperature of special points were tested and compared.(1) Through thermal simulation of the reasonable modeling, the temperature field distribution and the temperature rise of the special points were calculated; the differences of conventional laminated battery and new laminated battery were analyzed. Results showed that at the end of discharge, special point temperature, calorific value and the overall temperature of new laminated battery is lower than that of conventional laminated battery.(2) The electrochemical properties of the battery and the safe performance of the new laminated battery were analyzed. Results showed that Cycled with1C, discharge capacity of the new laminated battery retained about95.2%after1000cycles; the discharge rate capability was better than that of the conventional laminated battery, the new laminated battery had the fine safety performance.(3) The active substances of the batteries were tested by XRD and SEM, this paper analyzed the affect of current intensity for the active material and morphology, electrochemical impedance test of the batteries. Results showed that the broken level, internal impedance and particles bonding of the new laminated battery is lower than a battery of the conventional laminated design; dynamic performance of the new laminated battery is better.(4) With infrared thermal imager, the temperature field distribution and the temperature of the special points were analyzed and compared, simulation results of the temperature field was verified. Results showed that at the end of discharge, actual temperature field fitted well with simulation temperature field, calorific value, the overall temperature and special point temperature of the new laminated battery was lower than that of the conventional laminated battery.
