With the increasing development of light steel structure of portal frame, variable cross-section components are used more widely, which brings a lot of problems about stability of variable cross-section components. However, there is little theoretical research and reference standard of wedge tapered member. Thus, this paper uses constant section steel beam web’s study principle to conduct a relative research on wedge I-beam elastic buckling problem under different stresses combined effect.Firstly, the research status of the wedge member is presented in this paper, briefly described the classification of plate and its stability analysis method, and summarized the main research achievements of rectangle web under different stress conditions.Secondly, this paper studies the wedge web elastic buckling problem under local stress action via the method of ABAQUS finite element simulation. Simulation of wedge web elastic buckling situation, considering local stress width coefficient, boundary conditions, wedge web section length to height ratio, wedge rate, ratios of height to thickness and other factors, under different local stress width’s local stress is conducted, and acquired plenty of critical buckling loads and buckling waveforms. Then the factors which influence the critical buckling coefficient most are selected out, fitted calculation formula of simply supported wedge’s buckling coefficient under local stress load and clamped wedge plate buckling coefficients of local stress load and summarized critical load and elastic buckling coefficient change law and its conclusion when the factors above are changing. According to the different boundary wedge elastic buckling coefficient formula fitted, introduced flange’s effect parameter on web, validated the rationality of parameters to consider flange’s effect on web, and fitted elastic buckling coefficients calculation formula of different local loading wedge I-steel beam web plate buckling considering flange restraints.Finally, based on the wedge plate buckling analysis conclusion only under local pressure effect in this research, and in accordance with the former study on the buckling analysis of wedge web is subjected to pure shear action. On the basis of this, flange restraints wedge plate buckling problem under Interaction of local compression and shear is analyzed, verified if buckling stress critical conditions, applicable to common I-beam webs, is also applicable to the wedge I-beam web under shear stress, local loads joint force and flange restraints.
