With the development of energy utilization in the aspects of saving, environmental protection and high efficiency in China, HRSG(Heat Recovery Steam Generator) are increasingly being used by enterprises to improve the energy utilization rate. Due to harsh conditions, improper operation, equipment defects and so on, HRSG in the long-term running environment of high temperature and high pressure becomes prone to accidents. Once the boiler explosion accident occurs, it not only brings significant economic losses to the enterprise, but also leads to casualties.Based on the information of the project of Kunming Boiler Co. Ltd. in this paper, the structural features of HRSG are analyzed through the theory of Risk Analysis. The risk factors affecting the HRSG explosion are identified by means of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) so that the causes of that parts failure are analyzed and the remedial measures are taken. Such some experimental researches on the common defects in the boiler manufacturing process as NDT (Nondestructive Testing), Mechanical Properties Test, SEM (Scanning Electron Microsoft) Test are done respectively so as to analyze the cause and consequence of the defects.Through the identification of the risk factors, the fault tree is established in terms of the HRSG explosion as the top event. In view of the reliability of the data about the basic events of the fault tree, the fuzzy theory is introduced into the FTA (Fault Tress Analysis) to calculate the fuzzy failure probability of the HRSG explosion accident. At the same time, the sensitivity analysis of the basic events is carried out. This paper finds out the main basic events affecting on the top event so that some specific measures to reduce the boiler explosion accident are put forward.The HRSG explosion belongs to the explosion mode of the steam explosion expanded by boiling liquid, which includes saturated steam energy release and partially saturated water vaporization energy release through the analysis of the energy release form from the explosion. This paper establishes the energy calculation model of the HRSG explosion, and puts it into the sulphur incinerator of a chemical industry enterprise to analyze the consequence of the explosion risk of the HRSG. And the explosion energy and the hazard radius are calculated, and the damage area of the explosion shock wave and the consequences of the explosion accident are simulated by the MATLAB software.Finally, according to the results of the above risk identification and risk assessment, the pertinent control measures are put forward for the HRSG explosion accident.
