With the aeration technology popularization and application, there are many different kinds of aeration corrosion reduction facilities’ body shapes, sudden expansion and sudden drop facilities not only can satisfy the aeration requirements, and is suitable for the eccentric hinge type high pressure radial gate to improve the need of water stop is decorated, used in the high dam spillway and flood discharge deep hole is increasing.Aiming at the sudden expansion, sudden drop type aerator, through the observation of the model test, research on flow pattern rules,air concentration distribution of velocity,cavity length calculation and aeration protection length calculation of different slopes, sudden expansion width and down ridge height flow pattern rules. The main research contents and results were as follows:(1) Research on the relationship between flow and head of the work flow, through the analysis of the measured data classification on the flow pattern, and get the change range of critical working head.(2) Using a single factor variable analysis, the analysis of aerated concentration of each test scheme along distribution and vertical distribution, get the influence on the change of slopes, width, height and flow. And put forward the improvement measures for air concentration distribution in the water.(3)Based on the experimental data of bottom plate and side walls are respectively the time averaged pressure profiles for the sudden expansion and drop aerator pressure partition, main factors affecting the variation range of peak pressure and pressure changes, Based on the theory and test, put forward the pressure distribution more reliable and provides a reference for the further research.(4) Analysis only the sudden expansion and only the sudden drop test data by contrast, reveals the relationship that the mutual influence of bottom cavity and lateral cavity, put forward the engineering measures that how to get the bottom cavity and lateral cavity stability in better flow pattern, to avoid the phenomenon of cavity flooded. At the same time, through the method of dimensional analysis and the multiple functions, fitting respectively got exactly the cavity length and the lateral cavity length experience formula.(5)Length of protective segment has many influence factors, such as flow rate, flow velocity, the Froude number, aeration facility shape, size etc. Reveal the main influence of the relationship between factors. By fitting the experimental data obtained the more reliable empirical relation.
