Lithium ion batteries are gradually developed in 1990 after a new generation of battery, which compared with conventional Ni-Cd, Ni-MH Battery has many advantages. for example, high voltage, light weight, high energy density, small size, low self-discharge rate, no memory effect, long cycle life and other characteristics. Therefore, the Li-ion battery as the primary energy used in the notebook, cell phone and other portable electronic devices has been very popular. Nowadays, the new lithium iron phosphate market has a very good market prospects, because of its excellent battery performance. However, to detect remaining battery capacity has been a problem worthy of study, because only indirect measurements, cannot guarantee accuracy. Application development of lithium ion batteries has been growing rapidly, how to accurately estimate the battery is gradually becoming more important.Currently, the measurement is not accurate, the main problem is not a comprehensive lithium battery detection systems exist, because it ignores the important factors that can affect battery performance, namely temperature parameters, in addition to the internal resistance of the battery itself is aging and change. With the increase in the frequency of use of the battery, the battery aging, the battery capacity will be gradually reduced, if the lack of a full cycle of the rated capacity of the battery calibration this step will increase the power of measurement error, the error will be with the battery frequency increases.This paper mainly for the MSP430 microcontroller core for low-power portable products, the design of a lithium battery detection system, and charge and discharge process lithium battery pack protection. Current, voltage, temperature parameters lithium batteries will be timely collection system controller, the remaining capacity of the battery pack testing and system battery charge and discharge protection provide a theoretical basis.This paper details the features and advantages of lithium batteries, analysis of its charge and discharge characteristics.
