Floating platform is an air vehicle. It’s usually relies on the buoyancy of air to overcome its own weight, so that it can flying. Currently, the floating platform has important applications in the transport industry, communications industry, the tourism industry, as well as environmental monitoring, air surveillance, anti-terrorism, anti-submarine work. However, in the practical application of the floating platform, due to the limitations of the power supply capacity, the floating platform has a poor mobility and the payload has a short working hours. Taking into account the lighting conditions are good in high altitude, we can use solar energy as the energy source of the floating platform. In recent years, the solar floating platform is becoming the focus of international research.In this paper, full investigation of the development status of the domestic and international solar floating platform is carried out. It is pointed out that the research relates to a solar-powered floating platform technology, in fact, independent solar power system studies.In the independent solar power supply system, more issues need to be addressed, such as solar cell performance, solar controller performance and storage capacity. In this paper, focusing on the output characteristics of the solar cell and the MPPT control algorithm of the solar controller to explore approaches and methods to improve the performance of the independent solar power supply system.It has a valuable reference for further study of solar-powered floating platform technology.First of all, elaborating the working principle of solar cell in order to carry out the related modeling work. In this paper, three methods are adopted to study the output characteristics of the solar cell. We can recurrent the solar cell’s output characteristics by the correlation curve of the three results.Secondly, this paper describes the control principle and the control process of the MPPT, as well as three classic MPPT control algorithm. An improved algorithm(variable step disturbance observation method) is proposed and its simulation is carried out. The results show that the improved algorithm can not only improve the tracking speed, but also to avoid oscillation final operating point.At last, through the specific design of hardware and software,this paper displays a set of analog power experimental system based on Zynq7020. It can collect data, track maximum power point and so on. Among them, this paper carries out MPPT relevant laboratory tests to verify the validity of MPPT work.
