With the development and progress of science and technology, mankind has entered an era of information explosion. Reqirment on the information transmission speed, capacity and safety requirements are also getting higher and higher. Using light as a carrier of information transfer is undoubtedly one of the best ways in the world,comparing with the electrical signal and sound signal, regardless of speed, capacity,safety and other aspects. The processes of optical signal transmission and conversion requires filters. With the progress of science and technology, information is becoming more and more, the filter function requirements are needed increasingly.This paper make the single microring resonator applied to ordinary Mach-Zehnder interferometer filter to form a new type filter, the output transfer function is derived by the signal flow graph method, and the output spectra are simulated and analyzed. The results show that the improved filter can give rectangular waves similar flat top and flat bottom. The free spectral range reaches up to 74.8GHz. The extinction ratio is 10.2dB.The free spectral range, the extinction ratio, precision have improved significantly compared with ordinary Mach-Zehnder interferometer filter. By changing the way of combination of micro ring resonator and Mach-Zehnder interferometer filter, it can get more of output waveform. The effects of various parameters on the output performance of the device are discussed.
