In this paper, the damage process and the damage level of buried pipeline under the blast loading were simulated with the SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) and SPH-Lagrange coupled algorithm. The results of this paper is important for the risk evaluation and the establishment of security protection code for underground utilities. The study contents and results are as follows:(1) The damages of single buried pipe under the blast loading from explosive outside the pipe were studied and the cumulative damage graphic, speed history curves and pressure history curves were obtained. The simulating results were compared with the data in literature to verify the feasibility of the algorithm and the trusts of the calculation results.(2) The damages of single buried pipe under the blast loading from explosive inside the pipe were studied and the speed history curves and pressure history curves were obtained for different thickness of the pipe walls. The results showed that the thickness of pipe walls enhanced internal shock wave pressure, on the other hand, the bursting of the pipe consumed the explosion energy simultaneously. From the simulated load condition in this study, the damage level increased with the thickness of the pipe when the thickness is less than 18mm while the wall thickness was greater than 18mm, the damage level decreased with the thickness.(3) The damages of single buried pipe under the blast loading from explosive inside the pipe were studied for different mass of the explosives. The speed and the pressure values of the same Gauss points were compared and the destroyed region and destroyed shape were achieved under different mass of the explosives.(4) The damages of the pipe induced by the explosion of the nearby parallel pipe were studied. The results showed that the damage level depended on the distance between the two pipes and the damage threshold were obtained for the given explosive equivalent mass.
