Setting a variety of joints in the Rigid pavement is in order to eliminate changes in temperature and humidity caused by irregular cracks, prevent the correct panel of the stress arising from injury by the change of temperature, and control panel disconnect Road location. When the load effected at the edge of the joints, the road panels and the foundation will generate larger stress concentration, it will make the whole bearing capacity of road panels decrease. Therefore, the key of improving the whole bearing capacity of road panels is how to improve and maintain the load transfer of joints.In order to study the working state of dowel bar, this paper primarily introduce the tensile test with failure load,the tensile test with repeated load, and the repeat bending test.Firstly, comparing the result of the dowel bar with different treatment methods, which were tested by the tensile test with failure load and the tensile test with repeated load, the dowel bar spraying by plastic can better meet the demand of setting the dowel bar in transverse joints of the concrete pavement.Secondly, comparing the result of the dowel bar with different diameter, which were tested by the tensile with failure load and the tensile test with repeated load, the better diameter of the dowel bar is 25mm to meet the demand of setting the dowel bar in transverse joints of the concrete pavement.Thirdly, the deviation of layout about the dowel bar with asphalt coating or the dowel bar spraying by plastic are tested by the tensile test with failure load. The result is that if the layout about the dowel bar is bias, in order to meet the demand of setting the dowel bar in transverse joints of the concrete pavement, the dowel bar with asphalt coating need more load to overcome the bad effect of the bias, but the dowel bar spraying by plastic need little more load and much more time to overcome the bad effect of the bias. Besides, if the layout about the dowel bar is bias, whether the dowel bar with asphalt coating or spraying by plastic is destroyed more seriously than the commen dowel bar.Finally, comparing the result of the dowel bar with asphalt coating or spraying by plastic by the repeated bending test, in the same situation, the load transfer ability of the dowel bar spraying by plastic is better than the dowel bar with asphalt coating. That is the dowel bar spraying by plastic can meet the setting demand of the dowel bar in concrete pavement more easily than the dowel bar with asphalt coating. Besides, whether the dowel bar is covered by asphalt coating or spraying by plastic, the load transfer ability is increasing when the deviation of layout about the dowel bar is decreasing.
