Human is the operator of various weapons and is one of the main targets on the battlefield. The casualty of human directly determines the outcome of the war. Bullets and fragments are main threaten to the soldiers in the war. So it is significant to study the effectiveness of small arms ammunition and the vulnerability or incapacitation of soldiers under threat of penetrating projectiles.Based on the human cross-sectional slice image dataset CVH. the data of human tissues and code tables were collected from images processing by Photoshop and Matlab. According to the data of human tissues, the geometric model of human was established. It contains the main organs of the body. The injury mechanism of the cavity penetrate to the human body was described. Based on the experimental data, the characteristics of temporary cavity in typical projectiles (bullets and fragments) penetrating gelatin were analyzed and the temporary cavity model was proposed. Influencing factors of loss of combat effectiveness and the criteria methods for human injury and incapacitation were analyzed. Combined with AIS and ICIDH, an injury and incapacitation assessment criteria was developed, a methods for the injury and incapacitation assessment was provided. The human vulnerability assessment procedures were developed by Matlab, which achieves image processing, human modeling, visualization, and other functions. Human vulnerability models and the injury assessment methods established in this paper provide a reference for the study on assessment of human injury and incapacitation caused by bullets and fragments.
