Gear transmission with high efficiency, compact structure, reliable work, long life, stable transmission ratio, etc., had a crucial role in the field of machinery. But in actual production, the manufacturing errors, installation errors and the force deformation led to gear deviation load which restricted in the carrying capacity of gear. To reduce the occurrence of gear deviation load, on the one hand we could improve the accuracy of gear manufacturing, installation and strengthen the stiffness of support system; on the other hand, according to the situation of gear meshing, we could use gear modification techniques. During the research of gear meshing, the paper explored a new type of gear with more superior performance- involute arc cylindrical gear. It was found that the unique geometric characteristics of involute arc cylindrical gear could effectively reduce the influence of gear deviation load in the transmission process in order to avoid the stress concentration of meshing surface caused by gear deviation load.The paper used space geometry theory to deduce the gear tooth profile equation, gear tooth surface equation and gears meshing line expressions of involute arc cylindrical gear. And use the Autolisp to program, in the AutoCAD environment, in order to draw the tooth surface tooth meshing line and contact line of arc cylindrical gear, quickly. In addition, to improve the strength theory of arc tooth cylindrical gear, the calculation formula of bending strength and contact fatigue of gear tooth was derived.The paper solved the complex problem of three-dimensional modeling on arc cylindrical gear, on the basis of VB programming, the paper realized the secondary development of SolidWorks. By drawing involute tooth profile, lofting molding section, the paper finished the automatic modeling of involute arc cylindrical gear. When the corresponding parameters are given, three-dimensional model of the gear could be generated automatically.Based on the unique geometric features of the arc tooth cylindrical gears, the paper analyzed the principle of anti partial load principle. Under the same condition of meshing situation, arc tooth, straight tooth and helical tooth were analyzed by the finite element simulation software. The results showed that the arc cylindrical gear could significantly improve the stress situation of tooth profile, and the arc cylindrical gear had obvious the characteristics of anti partial load. After the modification of tooth profile, the characteristics of anti partial load were improved.In order to verify the characteristics of anti partial load, a set of test equipment was designed to verify the contact area of arc cylindrical gear in the situation of partial load. The test results showed that, in the case of the actual operating conditions of installation errors, the arc cylindrical gear had obvious the characteristics of anti partial load and was not sensitive to the installation error. In addition, the comparison test of the bearing capacity of the cylindrical gear reducer and the helical gear reducer was carried out, which proved that the load capacity of the cylindrical gear reducer is larger than that of the helical gears.
