Study on Engineering Geological Characteristics of the Anti-sliding Stability of Side Fractural Plane of Dam Abutnient of Xiluodu Hydropower Station, JinshaRiverRuan Shenyong(Chengdu University of Technology)Abstract The dam abutment anti-sliding stability of Xiluodu hydropower station is a complex problem. Engineering geological characteristics of the side fractural plane is an important factor influencing the dam abutment anti-sliding stability. In this paper, on the basis of lots of geological surveys on the spot, using mathematical statistics method, probability analysis method and definite survey method, the engineering geological characteristics of the side fractural plane are studied.In consideration of the characteristics of sparse development and short trace length, the index system of side fractural structure plane is described. The three in-situ side fractural structure plane investigation methods are applied, which are called as trace length estimation method, full trace length investigation and universal statistics exploration edit method. The database of managing the investigation data is constructed, and program model of proceeding data is developed.Applying the definite method and indefinite method, the universal development characteristics of side fractural structure plane are analyzed according to development background, geological characteristics and other engineering characteristics. Then, side fractural structure plane of dam abutment area is zoned in terms of the density of structural planes, and the percentage of each density zone intersected by side fractural planes is obtained respectively.By using mathematical statistics method and probability analysis method, attitude and trace length of side fractural plane are studied. The general characteristics and distribution of the attitudes are analyzed; the mean and standard deviation of attitude in each density mne in left-rigJ~it side of Jinsha River are calculated. Based on full trace length analysis of side fractural plane, the trace length is calculated using four probability methods, which are called as H-H method, Lasllette method, sesquitrace length method; and the mean and standard deviation of trace length of each density zone in left-right side of Jinsha River is calculated.On the basis of persistency definite analysis, the persistency of side fractural structure plane is analyzed by using two-dimensional network simulation method. By means of the mean and standard deviation of attitude and trace length, and structure plane network random simulation techniques, ffie two-dimensional network simulation and persistency of each density zone in left-right side of Jinsha River are studied. Combining with the percentage of each density zone intersected by side fractural plane, the comprehensive persistency of side fractural plane is gained. By modi1~ing current flnit?element program, a program by which the distribution of side fracturalplane can be determined randomly is developed.
