The steel-concrete composite beams have merits of both steel structures and reinforced concrete structures , notable benefit of technology and economics have been achieved , The steel-concrete composite beams have been applied and researched extensively . The design methods to composite beams in the STEEL STRUCTURE DESIGN SPECIFICATION (GBJ17-88) have been established following the foreign countries mainly , they don't consider slip effect, such simplification is not safe enough for composite beams especially for composite beams with partial shear connection. To these problems , this paper researchs on the slip property of the simply supported composite beams of steel and concrete with partial shear connection, based on the concepts of the slip strain and the slip . Assumptions are that steel beam and concrete board are ideal elastic material t and the connecters is plastic . According to the basic concept of the slip , it sets up the function of the slip strain by "mixed method" , the slip function can be got by integrating the slip strain function . During calculation of the ultimate flexural capacity of composite beams , it assumes steel beam , concrete board and connecter are plastic , calculates them by ultimate equilibrium method . Deformation is calculated by "mixed method" including curvature and deflection, and uplift is not considered.Though investigation , it puts forward the formulas to slip strain and slip of the simply supported composite beams , establishs formulas of the carrying capacity , curvature and deflection to composite beams with partial shear connection , finds out relationships between shear connection degree coefficient and them. It can develop benefit of technology and economics in design to adjust the shear connection degree. This paper calculates a simply supported compositebeam with various shear connection degree based on finite element method (FEM) by software ANSYS . The results from formulas in the paper can agree better with the FEM and test results in the elastic stage of composite beams.Designers can also benefit from the theory and algorithm introduced in this paper.
