The known work about retaining structure with double-row piles and other corresponding retaining structures is summarized, and its disadvantages are shown in the paper. Theory of soil arching is applied to the analysis of the retaining structure with double-row piles. Effects of both the vertical and horizontal soil arching on structure are established. Tbree-dinientional analysis is made for retaining structure considering the spatial effect of deep foundation pit and horizontal beam on the butt of retaining piles. In the light of engineering application, a new analytic method on retaining structure with double-row piles is put forward, which is based on the theory of soil arching applied upward and subgrade reaction method downward regarding the divide of supposed slip surface, and a program DPSS is worked out based on these theories. Compared with the measured results, the theoretical calculation results analyzed by the program DPSS are closed to them.The whole process of retaining structure with double-row piles analysized by finite element method is also described in this article. Taking advantage of computer, large finite element method programe Ansys5.5 is used to analyze the double-row piles. Soil non-linear is taken into account, meanwhile, the whole process of deep excavation construction is imitated. With the help of back analysis method, the relevant parameter can be modified continuously to fit the information construction process and optimum design.The influences of many factors on retaining structure with double-row piles have been discussed as well. Through the comparision of numerical results, the general working rule has been summarized, and some valuable results have been gotten, which can do something useful to engineering practice.
