The electrical net in south of Gansu joins the main net in Gansu after Bicheng 220kV transmission lines begin working. The stability is very important because the voltage level is too low and the distance is too far. The distribution of power flow and stability in Longnan net is calculated, the existing problem is analyzed and a solution is presented in the thesis. The representative fault of Bicheng transmission lines is analyzed and calculated. So the value of negative and zero sequence currents can be gained when the line is shorted and broken off. When the forever fault on one phase occurres, using symmetry sequence filtering and new UPFC to compensate the fundamental negative and zero sequence currents can realize operating in two phase and improve the stability of system. Furthermore, using the series compensation of new UPFC improves the transmission power of transmission lines operating in two phase.
