In the concept of low temperature combustoin ,experimental cycles are made on NOx emission from one 4135G diesel engine by changing injection timing and compression ratio on generator working condition & propeller working condition respectively, based on technical code on emission of marine diesel engine draw up by International Maritime Organization .Experimental results make it clear achieving low temperature combustion and reducing NOx emission rate from diesel engine by reducing injection timing or/and compression ratio ,but increasing comsumption rate and smoke rate; without varing economic performance and smoke rate performance by reducing injection timing and appropriately increasing compression ratio . Furmermore,a predicting program of NOx emission rate from the marine diesel engine is developed, based on a quasi-dimension 3-region combustion model and NOx formation mechanism of Zeldovich developed by Lavoie. Simulation calculation results are quite consistent with experiment results. A effective tool for calculation NOx emission rate with variations of working conditions and performance parameters of the marine diesel engine has been put forth.
