A new engineering material-steel fiber polymer cornpositelS FPC) which is widely applied in the field of machine manufacture i s studied in this paper. In our experiment ,We have studied the stre ngth, damping in detail. Based on these ,we summed up the influenc e law of various factors. Under the promise of the practical applica tion an frugality , we determined the formula of SFPC and the stud y range. According to principle of damage mechanics ,we deduced one axis tensile-compressive stress-strain relations and numeral fitt ing results with the finite element method. With experiment curve and stress-strain curve, we prove theorization method is practical. With addiction of steel fiber, the damping of SFPC has a little decli nation preparing with PC, under the best condition , the damping ofSFPC is six to eight times lager than that of the traditional rnateria 1 casting iron. The vibration resistant performances of the parts that made o f PC are five times higher than that of casting iron, but weight is o ne third of it at the same volume . The thickness of the SFPC parts can be increased if the weight is equal. This would make natural fr equency and the amplitude of vibration reduced and improve the dy namic characteristics of a machine tool. PC especially can be used i n manufacturing the foundation ,bed supporting bracket .In experi ment ,we are studying with using stimulating machine bed and taki ng the finite element method to stimulate it , results of experiment and stimulating prove that this kind of material is good in machine engineering.
