With the rapid development of our country's economy, the need of convenience and comfort of traffic increases rapidly. There is a wide stage to construct large span bridges. The cable-stayed bridge has been one of the popular types of bridges because of its advantages. Such as rational structure and beautiful shape etc.The general method of construction the concrete cable-stayed bridges is cast-in-place cantilever by diagonal tie basket ahead pilot cable. As Gonghe cable-stayed bridge's self specialty and unique feature, span by span, a completely new way in building cable-stayed bridge, is adopted. The closure is the focal and hard point in cable-stayed bridges' construction and monitoring. Variant types of structure and variant construction methods have variant closure ways and characteristics. It need to planning a suitable closure option for Gonghe Cable-Stayed Bridge based on its construction characteristic.Based on the analysis of the closure methods of other large span cable-stayed bridges, the article comprehensively compares the advantages of the two different closure methods with their disadvantages according to the character of the span by span construction method of Gonghe Cable-Stayed Bridge and eventually determines the closure option appropriate for Gonghe Bridge by much finite-element calculation.According to the on-site measurement of the cable force and the elevation of the main beam, the cable force and the elevation are both within the scope of the error. And the quality of the concrete of the closure section is guaranteed, the alignment of the bridge also conformity the design expect.The success that Gonghe cable-stayed bridge is closed verified that the closure option and the calculation are right and provided valuable experience in practice for the extensive application of the span by span method in construction of the cable-stayed bridge. At the same time, it also provided new thoughts and experience in closure of large span bridges.
