The study of consolidation of layered saturated soils under variable loading is an important issue to geotechnical engineering. It is also of great value to the development of the elastodynamics and is very helpful to the analysis and design of foundations subjected to dynamic loads, such as vibrating machines and seismic waves. Some aspects about this problem are studied in this dissertation. This dissertation is based on Biot's equations governing the behavior of saturated linear elastic porous soil under dynamic loads. On the basis of the existing work,two-dimensional Biot's consolidation of layered saturated soils under variable loading is studied analytically and numerically. The main work includes:Based on Biot's dynamic consolidation equations,by the method of integral transform and matrix transfer,two-dimensional consolidation of layered Saturated soils is studied. Then, the general integral solutions of stress (including pore pressure) and displacement (including fluid flow) of any point were obtained under harmonic vibration loads according to staunch boundary condition.Second,a program to verify the correctness of this dissertation is developed.Third, according to an example, the influence on soil displacement stress etc under harmonic vibration load induced by infiltration coefficient and loads frequency variation is studied numerically in dissertation. Finally, the difference of layered saturated soils consolidation between rectangle and harmonic vibration loads is studied in this dissertation.
