This document presents research results for improving speed control algorithms for field oriented control (FOC) induction machine drives. In addition the improvement of an IFOC is attempted by using an improved sliding observer, Simulation based MATLAB and experiment present that this control system is reliability and accuracy. The important problems during experiment are analyzed in detail, and the ways of solving these problems are introduced.First of all, the maths module of induction motor based on Space Vector is introduced. The paper analyzed the merit when used the module if we simulate in MATLAB software. Because many parameters of induction motor are needed in high performance drives methods, this paper presents a way by which these parameters are got off-line. After analyzing the difference between the simulation result and the experiment result, the way is simple and reliable.Secondly, all of PWM ways are introduced, and the SVPWM is speciallay introduced. The paper analyzes the algorithm of the SVPWM with both synchronous modulation and asynchronous modulation, and gives an example of asynchronous modulation. Then, the field oriented control method is completly presented. The paper compare to the control performance between direct oriented control (FOC) and indirect oriented control (IFOC). In addition the improvement of an IFOC is attempted by using an improved sliding observer, Simulation based MATLAB is done, and prove that the system is controlled independently. The hardware structure of FOC system based on DSP is introduced. The software design flow is given in detail. The experiment result is analyzed. Finally, the paper proposes a comparison between the performances of a model reference and adaptive system (MARS) and extended Kalman filter-based algorithm implemented in the speed estimator for AC motor.
